SoundStage! Feedback: September 1999

September 23, 1999

Outstanding! Finally, someone has figured out the true use of e-publishing. I downloaded the full version of your E-Mag in one minute, ten seconds (cable modem) and literally luxuriated in wild-eyed wonder at what SoundStage! had wrought. Doug's editorial set the stage beautifully, and you guys are now bound for the stars.

Thanks for the first true e-magazine. Nothing like being the first (heh, heh, heh).

Bon voyage,

...Maurice Anderson

Do you have a website address for the Onix Electronic Company? They sound like they are building really high-end products for us working folks!

Great review. I'm very excited by the possibilities of Onix integrated amps.

Sincerely,

...Charlie Hollis

No Onix website that I know of, but you can get more information on Onix products from HCM Audio...Marc Mickelson.

Hello SS! Team,

Just wanted to drop you a line about the E-Mag -- looks like a good idea! Just downloaded the compressed .exe version -- no problem, 15 minutes approximately.

A good compromise between "got no time to read" and "I'd really like to sit
down and read."

Thanks and bonne continuation,

...Jeff Starrs

Editor,

Greetings from Mississauga. I have been a regular reader of SoundStage! for several years and enjoy your articles and reviews. Please keep up the good work.

I have heard that Axiom is coming out with a new speaker that's worthy of attention. Being the owner of several of their older speakers (AX-1, AX-3, AX-500A subwoofer), I am indeed interested in the new line of speakers, but have not been able to get any information on them. Their website (www.axiomaudio.com) has not been forthcoming with information (yes, I have even e-mailed the company about this). From a link on your website, I noticed that Quebec Audio has just reviewed Axiom's newest monitor. Regrettably, that review is not available online.

I hope that SoundStage! will review the new Axiom line of speakers in an upcoming issue (hopefully the monitor-type speakers). It's always great reading reviews on Canadian speakers, especially ones that may one day become part of my music system.

Once again, thank you for a wonderfully informative website, and I am looking forward to next month's installment.

Regards,

...Alan Sainaney

We'll see if we can arrange a review of the Axiom speakers....Marc Mickelson

Editor,

Great review of the Shunyata PowerSnakes power cords. My compliments to new contributor Grant Samuelsen for his very comprehensive and informed review. I would like to read more from Grant. The bad part is that I must now seek out Black Mambas to coil around my system!

Keep up the great reviews.

...John Thayer

You will be reading more from Grant. He's working on a review of the Audio Physic Avanti Century speakers, with the Wadia 830 CD player to follow....Marc Mickelson

Editor,

What happened to your article on the Classé factory? I've been looking forward to it for months.

...Joseph Vasile

The Classé factory tour is still in our plans, but because we don't have a set date for it, I removed it from our Coming Soon list so people wouldn't think it would appear right away. Once we know exactly when we will be visiting the factory, I will add the article to the list again....Marc Mickelson

Editor,

Thanks for the review of the Bel Canto DAC1. It's what I was hoping to hear. I'm ordering my DAC1 now. Can't lose with a money-back guarantee, can you? I am disappointed that you didn't scrounge up a Pioneer DVD player to use with the DAC1 since that is exactly what Bel Canto uses for demo in their own showrooms, and it's what they recommend on their website. You gotta get a Pioneer DVD player and tell us about it, or you sort of missed the point! Well, not really, but I just had to say it.

In any event, your review makes the DAC1 sound good enough to spring for.

Best,

...Bill Thomas

A follow-up is planned with a Pioneer DV-414....Marc Mickelson

To Marc Mickelson,

I've owned the Bel Canto DAC1 for about three months now and can heartily second your enthusiasm for it. One tweak it really loves -- the PS Audio P300 power plant. The DAC1 (and other DACs, too, I suspect) really benefit from "jitter-free" rock-solid AC.
